Expert care with a personalized approach

My name is Brendan Carney, and for over 15 years I’ve dedicated my work to one mission: helping people move toward a life free of pain. I believe that kind of freedom is possible for almost everyone — because true healing goes far beyond treating symptoms. It’s about understanding how physical tension, emotional experience, and lived history all shape the way the body moves and feels.

In my care, you can expect a thoughtful, collaborative approach. I take the time to understand your full story — not just what hurts, but how you live, train, work, and recover. Every treatment plan is tailored to support your body’s natural ability to heal and return to balance.

My work continues to evolve as I pursue advanced education and hands-on training in the latest research and modalities — from fascia-focused methods like the Stecco Fascial Manipulation Technique to modern interpretations of acupuncture and movement therapy. By bridging science and tradition, I aim to help every patient build resilience, restore function, and reconnect with their body’s innate intelligence.

How Did I Get Here?

After transitioning from a career in sports sales in 2005, I enrolled at the New England School of Acupuncture — one of the oldest and most respected acupuncture colleges in the United States. I graduated in 2008 with distinction, earning Summa Cum Laude honors and dual degrees in MAOM and JAS. Following graduation, I served as a teaching assistant for Harvard Medical School’s International Structural Acupuncture Course, studying under industry pioneers David Euler and Kiiko Matsumoto. Their work in palpation-based acupuncture, which uses the body’s feedback to guide individualized treatment, became a cornerstone of my clinical approach.

I later joined Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, as a Staff Acupuncturist — an experience that deepened my understanding of the power of Eastern medicine across a range of conditions. Even after establishing my own practice, I remained committed to continued education, earning certification in Dry Needling through MyoPain Seminars in 2014 and achieving the prestigious CMTPT designation — held by only a handful of therapists in New England. The following year, I completed the CRAFTA Level 1 Course in TMJ, cranial, and oral-facial pain.

My dedication to refining my craft ultimately led me to Padova, Italy, where in 2017 I trained at the renowned Stecco Institute. The course I attended was the first-ever International Fascial Manipulation training, uniting 42 students from 24 countries across six continents. I am honored to be one of fewer than twenty practitioners in the United States certified in the Stecco Fascial Manipulation Method.

Qualifications:

I am a Licensed Acupuncturist (Lic. Ac) specializing in fascia, physical medicine, and neurological rehabilitation. During my studies, I focused on Japanese Acupuncture Styles (JAS) and complementary techniques such as cupping and gua sha. I am certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. I am also one of fewer than twenty Level 3 Certified Stecco Fascial Manipulation Therapists in the United States, specializing in fascia, physical medicine, and neurological rehabilitation.

Additional certifications include Cranio Facial Therapy (Level 1), Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy (CMTPT), and Functional Movement Kinesiology Taping. I hold a degree in Exercise Science and have been a Nationally Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach since 2001.

I am also a Tai Chi and Kung Fu practitioner and teacher, with over a decade of experience studying and teaching mind-body movement.
